It was the 2008 Oak Bay Tea Party and we had a blast. It happens once a year and the parade goes right by our house, so we just have to drag our chairs out front and watch from the lawn. Then there's a midway amusement park that runs for two days down at the beach a few blocks away. It's a pretty fun time and I've been waiting for Hunter to be old enough to really enjoy it all and he definitely was this year.

He even tried a couple of the games. One is a simple Duck-Grab, where you grab bobbing ducks and on the bottom is "S" "M" "L" for the size of your prize. And the other was a fishing one where you use your magnet pole to grab alligators with magnets on them and also the size of the prize on the bottom. He also tried the hammer strength one but since I had to help him with it, no pictures. But here's the spoils, he wanted the pink Princess hammer lol.

Eagerly waiting

We had family brunch this morning. Dan and Jenn came as well as Auntie Lolo, Uncle Bruce and cousin Paul. Hunter had such a blast.

More under here )

I've been oggling some quality wooden toys for him and started to make some purchases. A while back I got him the wooden food sets from Melissa & Doug. There's just something so amazing about quality wood toys with good craftsmanship. So much cooler than junky and tacky plastic. So I've oggled the Terrace Dollhouse by Plan Toys for a while now and finally picked it up yesterday. I get a 15% discount so it was a great price for the house and a few accessory sets. Hunter is loving it and I'm loving him playing with something semi educational and quality (not tv or cars).

Time continues to fly by. :-)

It was Uncle Dan's 25th birthday on the 13th. We had his party on the 16th. Not a huge or spectacular affair, I'd been sick for days. Hunter was also a bit sick and tantrum'd through most of it until I put him to bed in the middle of dinner. It was also his friend Jakob's third birthday. And work on pottying!

Another long day today. Hunter was up late last night with all the excitement of nana getting home from England. Then woke up early this morning so we'd been up and he'd eaten breakfast by 7 am or so. Then we went back to sleep for a bit, got back up. I was hoping to spend the afternoon with Dan and Mum doing a bit of shopping and then hitting a park but the weather was just terrible and time flew by and so it was very rushed. I did manage to pick him up a winter coat and then during coffee break Hunter threw a massive out-and-out tantrum. It's very out of character for him and I think I've seen him do this maybe twice in his entire life, to this degree. He just screamed murder all the way home and then screamed hysterically in bed until I read him a story, then he fell asleep 3 or 4 minutes later, poor guy.

Pix under cut.. )

I've been sick so I haven't updated in the past few days really.

On Tuesday, Nana, Hunter and I met Dan and Jenn for the last lunch before Nana took off for England on Wednesday morning. She won't be back until the 20th now. It was really nice, despite Hunter managing to pelt someone in the leg with a toy truck and some general grumbling and mumbling. He did try a new food (flat fries) without protest which was nice.

My aunt Laurel, mum and I trundled little guy down to Undersea Gardens this afternoon. Man, what a total and utter disappointment really. For $9.50 for an adult, you go down this huge flight of stairs for one. There's no wheelchair or stroller access, nor were we even warned. Not a huge deal but slightly annoying. Then it's like 30 feet long with some windows and fish. I remember it being a lot more exciting when I was younger. Definitely too much money for that. But it was new and Hunter enjoyed it decently well, especially the star fish. They even had a small pool where he could touch them, which he did.

We stopped and had lunch at the museum cafe, where they made a special chocolate milk just for him. Ah yes, always the royal treatment for his Princelyness. We got a nice window seat so he could watch the cranes working away and steal all the "raise!" (raisens) out of our muffin.

More pix this way! )
